Exploring Decision-Making Strategies in the IOWA Gambling Task and Rat Gambling Task

Introduction Impairments in decision-making processes are believed to play an important role both substance use disorders and behavioral addictions. Clinical pre-clinical experimental testing provide complimentary insights on the psychobiological mechanisms of decision-making. The IOWA Gambling Task (IGT) assesses under ambiguity risk, which individuals faced with four card choices associated varying monetary reinforcer/loss contingencies. rat is a version using palatable reinforcers as wins timeouts mimicking losses. However, studies interspecies comparisons these tasks lacking, but facilitate translation information that may help unravel complex generate clinical advances. Objectives This study explores strategies among humans rats performing IGT rGT. Methods A total 270 young human adults performed computerized IGT, 72 adult outbread male Lister Hooded Performance was assessed explored by normative scoring approaches subgroup formations based individual choices. Results showed most learned favor advantageous choices, overall level performance differed considerably.
